Lace Cap Construction
The lace cap construction in our lace wigs is fine Swiss lace. Swiss lace is finer than French lace and is less detectable. Swiss lace gives our lace wigs a more natural and believable look. People will think you are wearing your own hair. If you don't tell them your secret, we won't tell!!
While our lace caps are durable, you should always take care when cleaning excess adhesives from the cap. Never pull or tug on the lace as doing so may damage the lace cap. Our lace caps come in several colors such as:
• Transparent: suitable for most complexions
• Brown: suitable for those with medium brown complexions
• Light brown: suitable for women with light brown skin
How to Measure
1) Measure your head Circumference with a tape measure around your hairline.
Circumference: This measures the distance around your head. Starting at the center of the front hairline, place the tape flat against your head, going just above the ear towards the back of the head, keeping the tape at the nape of your neck and go around to the opposite side of your head, just above the opposite ear and returning to the center of the front hairline. Circumference = _______ inches
2) Measure Front to Nape
Front to Nape: This measures the length of your head from the front to the nape of your neck. To determine where the nape of your neck is, tilt your head back and look up. Where your neck bends and may even develop a skin fold, is where your nape is. You want the bottom of the wig to sit right above this area so that when you do tilt your head back that far, your wig will not shift on your head. This area is often right at the occipital bone, but be sure to take the measurement with your neck bent down so that you are looking at your shoes. Starting at the front hairline, measure directly across the middle top of your head to the area that you have determined is your nape. Front to Nape = ____ inches.
3)Measure from Ear to Ear Across Forehead
Place tape at your temple, just in front of your ear, bring tape up towards the top of the head and go 1.5 inch behind the front hairline, down to the opposite temple in front of the opposite ear. Temple to Temple = _____ inches.
4) Measure from Ear to Ear Over Top of Head
Ear to Ear Across Top of Head: This measures your head for the top of the wig base. Place tape against your head at the top edge of your ear and go directly across the top of your head to the top edge of the opposite ear. Ear to Ear = _____ inches.
5) Measure from Temple to Temple Around the Back of Head
Temple to Temple Around the Back of the Head: Place tape against your head at the front edge of the hairline (sideburn area) in front of the ear, go around the head above the occipital bone to the opposite front edge of the hairline. Temple to Temple = _____ inches.
6) Measure the Nape of Your Neck
Nape: The measures the width of the hair at the nape of your neck. Place tape at the end of your hairline at the nape and measure across the width of the hair. If you want more room at the nape, you may want to consider adding a half inch to your nape measurement. Nape = _____ inches.
Helpful Hints for taking good measurements:
1.) Use a cloth measuring tape.
2.) Measure holding the tape snug, but not tight against the head.
3.) Keep tape flat against your head and do not allow kinks or twists to develop in the tape.
4.) Take measurements at least 3 times to be sure. Consistent measurements are an indication that you are measuring correctly.
5.) Braid, Wrap, or lay your hair how you plan to wear it
under the wig before measuring your head for your wig.
Prior to measuring your head, make you hair as flat as possible. Just as would when wearing a wig. Measure three (3) times for accuracy. When measuring, please do not pull on the tape measurer. Pulling or stretching the tape measurer will give you an incorrect size. When in doubt, round up to the nearest 1/4th of an inch. (example: 4.25, 4.5, 4.75)
